How does liposuction actually work?

In liposuction, a cannula is inserted into the fat depot through a mini skin incision in a place that is as inconspicuous as possible. A corresponding mass is introduced, which works on corresponding fat cells. After a short time, this liquid is sucked out, including the correspondingly processed fat cells. The aim is not to radically remove all fat cells, but to create a new, even contour. There are different methods of liposuction.

What results can be achieved by liposuction ?

With the removal of unwanted accumulations of fat and the modeling of the relevant parts by the surgeon, the body appears slimmer and the proportions become more harmonious. However, this method of liposuction is neither an alternative to weight reduction nor a treatment for obesity. It is not the whole person that can be made slimmer, but individual parts with localized, strong accumulations of fat. It is also possible that if the skin is too flabby, only surgical removal of the excess skin together with the fatty tissue can help.

Is anesthesia / hospital stay necessary for liposuction ?

The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis. Under local anesthesia and with an infusion of painkillers, you will hardly feel the operation and you can leave the clinic immediately after the procedure.

The dressing will be changed the day after the treatment. If you have another way to get there, we will be happy to provide you with one of our rooms or, if you wish, we can reserve a suitable hotel for you.

Can liposuction be performed on everyone / up to what BMI is it possible?

Liposuction is for body contouring, not weight loss. If your body mass index is over 34, you should first lose weight.

How do I prepare for liposuction surgery?

A healthy diet and adequate fluid intake is always important for the body – especially during a medical procedure. Detoxification before liposuction and appropriate preparation help to optimize and support the visual result (e.g. the tightening effect of the skin), as this allows the skin to regenerate better after the procedure.

During a personal consultation, our experienced specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery will clarify with you which medicines you can take and which you should stop taking accordingly. You can eat and drink normally if the procedure is performed under local anesthesia.
