Our staff is dedicated to exploring ways to improve the care of these patients; our multidisciplinary Center is made up of staff physicians, fellows, nurses, medical assistants, diabetes educators, secretaries, patient service representatives, coders, administrators and managers, working together to provide the finest care possible for our international patients.

Our endocrine surgeons have the most extensive experience in the world in the surgical care of thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, endocrine and pancreas disorders. Advanced minimally invasive technology is often utilized.

Thyroid disorders are a common complaint that Liv Hospital is superbly well equipped to deal with. Our services are designed so that all of the specialists you need – including endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons and a complete nursing staff – work together under one roof as a team to accurately diagnose and treat all forms of thyroid disorders. Our high-volume center holds internationally recognized expertise; our experts perform numerous surgical procedures every year – many of which are complex and reoperative surgeries – and, with the liaison assistance of your dedicated Recovery Specialist, will work hand-in-hand with your primary care physician in your home country to help you receive the most seamless care for your condition possible on an ongoing basis.

Our endocrine surgery team’s thyroid and parathyroid surgery experience manes that patients are increasingly referred for complex conditions such as reoperative problems, advanced cancers and hereditary endocrine syndromes.

LİV Hospital brings together a wide array of surgical branches as part of our multidisciplinary approach to all health and obesity issues. Thus, our Obesity Surgery Unit is fully integrated into other fields of specialization including the Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Endocrinology, Psychiatry, Exercise and Nutritional Physiology, Dietetics and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. International patients are offered the services of other Centers as and when required.

In some cases, surgery may be the right option for patients with extreme weight issues. Liv Hospital is one of the few centers in the region that offers what has become known as the “Gold Standard” in gastric bypass surgery – Robotic Surgery. This system uses remote control high mobility robotic arms instead of hand devices directly controlled by the doctor. These robotic arms are able to mimic the actions of the human wrist, with the capacity for a far higher degree of precision and movement. Robotic gastric bypass surgery ensures minimal incision scars and esthetic issues, rapid recovery and reduced hospitalization times for our international patients who are naturally keen to return to their lives in their home countries.

Diabetes Mellitus

The most common types of diabetes are type 1, type 2 and

geastational diabetes. Diabetic patients are monitored by a team consisting of an endocrinologist, internal medicine specialist, dietitian and diabetes nurse and diabetes training is provided to the patients in our hospital. Technological treatment and monitoring systems such as insulin pump, continuous blood glucose monitoring are applied in our polyclinic.

Obesity

Obesity is an important and common condition. Obesity forms basis for many diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, joint problems. The most common cause for obesity is failure to spend sufficient calories against intake of excessive calories. However, obesity may be related to a very severe endocrine disease (i.e. Cushing’s syndrome) and detection of this condition is important.

Thyroid Diseases

Thyroid gland is an endocrine organ. Thyroid diseases are the most common health problems in the community. Common thyroid diseases include goiter (with/without nodule), less functioning thyroid gland (hypothyroidism), much functioning thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), thyroiditis, thyroid cancer.

Parathyroid Gland Diseases

Parathyroid glands are located on posterior side of the thyroid gland and regulate calcium metabolism. Common parathyroid gland diseases are less (hypoparathyroidism) or much (hyperparathyroidism) function of the parathyroid glands.

Pituitary Gland Diseases

Pituitary Gland is a hormone-releasing organ located on the brainstem. Insufficient functioning of the pituitary gland (hypopituitarism), tumors (prolactinoma, acromegalia, Cushing’s disease, non-functioning tumors etc.), hypophisitis are common diseases of the hypophisis. Diseases of the pituitary gland is treated and followed by endocrinology department and some department such as neurosurgery, radiation oncology are cooperated when necessary.

Adrenal Gland

Adrenal Glands are located on both kidneys. Insufficient functioning of the adrenal gland (adrenal gland failure), over functioning or tumors (non-functional tumors, Cushing syndrome, pheochromacytoma, primary hyperaldosteronism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, adrenal gland cancers etc.) are common diseases of the adrenal gland.

Hirsutism

Hirsutism (excessive hairing) is a common healthcare problem and may indicate a severe health problem like polycystic ovary syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Cushing syndrome. Differential diagnosis and treatment of these diseases are in the field of interest of endocrinology.

Diseases of Testicles and Ovaries

Diseases associated with failure of sex hormones in women and men are generally together with deficiency of other hormones in majority of the patients and these patients are tested and treated by endocrinology.

Osteoporosis and Other Metabolic Bone Diseases

Osteoporosis is a bone metabolism disease. Although the most common form is osteoporosis during menopause, differential diagnosis of osteoporosis due to other reasons is important to provide accurate treatment fo rthe patient. Besides osteoporosis, endocrinology interests in metabolic bone diseases such as Paget’s disease, osteogenesis imperfecta etc.

Treatment of lipid metabolism diseases and rare metabolic diseases as well as lipid metabolism disorders known as hypercholestrolemia in cardiology and internal diseases clinics are usual. Because high cholesterol level is a cause for cardiovascular diseases, this procedure provides sufficient treatment for the patient. However, treatment of a group of lipid metabolism disease is more complex and these patients are followed by an endocrinologist. Similarly, treatment of metabolism diseases such as Gaucher, Nieman Pick, Fabry etc. is within professional field of endocrinology and metabolic diseases.
